Jakarta Election Likely to Be Delayed

The Jakarta gubernatorial election is likely to be delayed because of discrepancies found between the central government’s voter list and the Jakarta administration’s list.
Nurul Arifin, a member of the House of Representatives Commission III, which oversees legal affairs, said that according to Home Affairs Ministry data, the number of voters in Jakarta is at 5.66 million, while on the Jakarta City Administration’s temporary voters list, the number is over 7 million.
“This voters list issue is crucial because the discrepancies are huge. This needs to be sorted out first,” Nurul said late on Friday.
The Home Affairs Ministry uses data from its e-KTP (electronic ID card) database, while the Jakarta administration claimed that the potential voters in the election was more than 7.5 million people.
Nurul said that the House had asked the Jakarta Regional General Elections Committee to re-verify the voters data. The committee has been given a week’s time to verify the list.

Comment : problems in this article are there differences in the calculation kepemilihan pamilihan then governor of Jakarta, I picked this topic because of the difference in turnout between the Jakarta city administration departments in the country then this will affect the number of votes in Jakarta gubernatorial election counting only department in the country through making e ktp only while in jakarta city administration is not one voice will be very influential and therefore the government will follow up on errors in the gubernatorial vote later,
